10 14 15 morning call

My high risk call didn't work out yesterday, but the backup plan (always need one!) wasn't too shabby.

Here's my customer Elisa visiting from Maryland on a beautiful right.

I can be hired as SUP/surf instructor/guide. Email to the right for info.
I also can help with accommodation and car.

Buoys 5am
NW
5.3ft @ 12s from 339° (NNW)
4.8ft @ 8s from 8° (N)
4.2ft @ 10s from 347° (NNW)
2.3ft @ 6s from 26° (NNE)

Pauwela
4.1ft @ 9s from 33° (NE)
2.6ft @ 12s from 326° (NW)
2.2ft @ 14s from 309° (WNW)
1.1ft @ 4s from 19° (NNE)

Barbers
2.5ft @ 13s from 221° (SW)
2.4ft @ 10s from 321° (NW)
2.1ft @ 18s from 187° (S)

Lots of swells from different sources on the northerly buoys. The 14-15s one is the WNW one out of that typhoon off Japan, and because of its original direction is not gonna do much on Maui's north shore.

But the 12s one is coming from that fetch I highlighted earlier this week and it will pickup during the day So expect those 2.6f to go up at the Pauwela buoy. Waimea is already at 5.6, as the graph below shows.

Let me also draw your attention to that 2f 18s reading at the Barbers buoy. I would recommend to check the Lahaina webcam before hitting the road though.

Trades supposed to start blowing again...

...even though they don't seem to be particularly strong if you look at them on the wind map below.
Which also shows yet again a NW fetch and a couple of south ones.
South shore has been nicely active to be so late in the season, and it doesn't seem to be wanting to slow down. Expect swells bigger than actual from both the NNW and the south during the weekend.
But don't forget to have fun with what we have now in the meantime!
Hookipa report coming up soon (connection permitting).

October 28 will see the start of the Aloha classic windsurfing contest at Hookipa. It will last till nov 10.
Go to the AWT website if you want to sign up.
